Matthew has specialised solely in family law since 1993. He deals with the full range of family law cases, mainly in the Central Family Court and the High Court.

Whilst at Lloyd Platt & Co he has developed a particular expertise in financial cases, often involving substantial assets. His case load frequently involves consideration of private and public companies, business partnerships, off shore trust structures, international law and complex tax issues. This often necessitates working with actuaries, forensic accountants, foreign lawyers and the other experts to achieve the best results.

He further deals with worldwide ‘Mareva’ injunction orders, applications through the Child Support Agency, pre-nuptial agreements, enforcement of orders, cases under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 and cohabitant cases under TLATA 1996 and Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989.

Matthew as part of the team, strives for the best results for clients by paying close attention to the details of a case and the relevant law, while never losing sight of the client’s ultimate objectives.

Matthew dealt with the firm’s case of Rapp v Rapp in the Court of Appeal and had conduct of the case on behalf of the wife. The case received widespread national media coverage in 2016, as well being reported in the law reports.
