This morning, divorce solicitor Vanessa Lloyd Platt, made an appearance on the BBC breakfast show to discuss the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data on divorce in the UK.
With the government's ongoing austerity measures and the current turbulence in the financial markets there is little doubt about the pressures of modern life and the impact this can have on one's personal life, family and career.
Looking at the ONS data, it is clear that divorce and marriage trends have changed over several decades. The ONS report has gathered the data for 2009 and 2010 which gives a good insight into recent trends. For example the report shows that the number of divorces in England and Wales in 2010 was 119,589, an increase of 4.9% since 2009, when there were 113,949 divorces.
