Civil Partnerships

Civil Partnership Lawyers

The Civil Partnership Act 2004 came into effect in December 2005 which allows same sex couples to register their relationship formally making it a civil partnership. This has given same sex couples the opportunity to have the same legal rights as any married spouse.

At Lloyd Platt & Company we are always happy to advise any couple on civil partnerships and all the legal aspects of them. Any couple considering such a commitment should be asking questions about their legal position in regard to tax, state benefits, pensions and inheritance.

Civil Partnership Solicitors

A civil partnership, much like a marriage, is by no means bullet proof. Like marriages, civil partnerships can experience difficult times and sometimes these differences are irreconcilable. If you are seeking to end a civil partnership you will need to apply for dissolution, which is the equivalent of a divorce.

At Lloyd Platt & Company we can offer you the legal help and support needed to go through the process of dissolution which is likely to include issues such as the separation of finances. If there are children involved in the civil partnership then we can offer specific legal advice on the matter.

Lloyd Platt & Company are specialist divorce solicitors and experts in family law, adoption, children's matters, civil partnerships, co-habitation, domestic violence, financial settlements on divorce and pre-nuptial agreements.
